Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Thanksgiving season is upon us, so I thought I’d go around the school and ask our students, “What are you thankful for?”  By far, most of the children said, “Mom and Dad”, and “my family”, but there were some other answers as well that are worth sharing:
“The Thanksgiving dinner”,  “getting my games system”, “food”, “my sister”, “almost going to Middle School”, “cookies”, “my friends”, “Deer Hunter’s Supper”, “my cat”,  “turkey”, “seeing my Dad”, “Legoes”, “a day off from school”, “big supper”, “my 6th grade buddy”, “going on vacation”, “where I live”, “sitting down to eat with my family”, “books”, “my house”, “cranberry jello”, “that I have a dog”, “my family and how much they love me”, “that I have so many friends that take care of me”, “heat, food, and water”, “having pets that love me”, “playing with my friends”.
And my two personal favorites from two 5th graders: “the people in the war”, and “all the people around the world that came to America.”  So that gives you a snapshot of what our children value in their lives, from the cute to the profound.

Community Thanksgiving Luncheon

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday, however you celebrate it.  And remember, the students have off the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd next week, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Kate Torrey
