Dear Parents and Guardians,                                                                            Dec. 4, 201

As the holiday season is advancing upon us, we all expect children to get very excited about the things they will   get for Christmas.  I’ve already heard conversations about this on the playground.  But another important part of this holiday season is giving to others in need.  Our students have proven many times in the past how compassionate there are and how eager they are to give to a good cause.

Last Friday at our Community Meeting, Audri Miller gave a beautiful slide show presentation about the area of Bali, Indonesia which she will be visiting this winter as part of a UVM course.  Her photos and stories showed a compelling picture of what school is like for the children of Bali.  You may have seen the letter sent home describing the school supply items these children need.  Audri has put a large suitcase in our lobby to collect these donations, and already this morning I saw students putting things into the suitcase.

The Afterschool Program Student Leadership Club also has a donation box in the lobby, and they decided to collect items that our deployed soldiers need.  There is a flyer attached to this letter listing the items needed most.  Seeing young children get excited about giving to others at this special time of year is what puts me in the holiday spirit!

Report Cards:  If you have had a chance to look over your child’s report card, be sure to celebrate with them their successes and hard work.  If there are areas in need of improvement, discuss that too, and set goals with your child.  And as always, if there’s anything at all you don’t understand or have questions about, please call your child’s teacher.  The best time to reach them is after 2:35.  And speaking of report cards, High Honors go to Olivia Babcock, Skyleigh Bickings, Ryley-Mae Cota, Addie Martin, Aliyah Hill, and Owen Hutchins for getting straight A’s.  Our Honor Roll is impressive as well (all A’s and B’s): Hannah LaFountain, Evan Locke, Brooke Naylor, Holdyn Newell, Emory Vanderveer, Alethea Whitten, Tara Wootton, Cadence Locke, Elijah Miller, Melina Brooks, Willow Morin, Isabel Penberthy, Clayton Sargent, Jack Strout, and Donovan Turner.  Congratulations!!

Spread the Word:  There will be a Waterville & Belvidere Community Holiday Sing-A-Long at the Belvidere School on Tuesday, Dec. 11th from 3:00 to 4:30 with free cookies, coffee, and punch.  The Student Leadership club will provide songbooks, and Superintendent, Joe Ciccolo will lead us all in song.

Have a great week,
